Flights to Jamaica

Home of the classic swallow-tail Hummingbird that darts among the flora and fauna. Jamaica is also best known for its eclectic mix of people, vibrant culture, sporting personalities and rich island food. Savour the national dish of ackee and saltfish with boiled dumplings and green bananas or stop by a jerk pit for finger-lickin’ good jerk chicken or pork. What more could you ask for? With year-round sunshine, beautiful white sandy beaches, and breath-taking mountains, the ‘irie’ island of Jamaica is a sublime vacation spot. But before it became a vacation paradise, it was settled by the Spanish, taken over by the British in 1655, and became a land where sugarcane was ‘king’. Nowadays tourism is king, as the mix of villas, small hotels, and all-inclusive resorts throughout its major tourist centres, make it a popular vacation spot for people all over the world.

Jamaica is the place to have the wedding of your dreams. Couples travel from faraway to make their fairy-tale wedding a reality, at places like Trident Castle in the lush, green, parish of Portland. Trident Castle is located in Port Antonio, Portland’s capital, and was built in the 1970’s for a German baroness, but is now a vacation villa. In recent years, its beautiful white towers have served as the backdrop for many weddings. Located on the eastern part of the island, Portland was once the hideaway of movie idol Errol Flynn, whose wife Patrice Wymore Flynn still has a home there. In Portland you can go rafting on the Rio Grande, which is a fun, relaxing pastime that Errol Flynn enjoyed. The tranquil Blue Lagoon in Portland is an attraction that is not to be missed. The pristine waters of the Lagoon are delicious hues of blue, and the 200ft depth is sure to pull you in. If you are up for it, you can also take a dip. You are sure to be energized by the cold water that springs up from its underground streams, which mix with the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. In Jamaica, Negril is the place for spectacular, breath-taking sunsets. If you are looking for a place where your soul will feel at peace, then this is it. While there is nothing quite like the warm, beautiful waters that surround Negril, the Negril Cliffs are a must-see. Located on Jamaica’s west end, the Negril Cliffs offer great views and they are enticingly tempting for diving. The world famous Rick’s Bar is located atop the Cliffs, and the ambiance and sumptuous food makes for an amazing experience. Dunn’s River Falls of Ocho Rios is also world-renown. The gushing waterfalls cascade down more than 600 feet, and is a premier tourist attraction. The Falls were famously featured in the 1962 James Bond movie ‘Dr. No,’ and are an out-and-out tourist magnet, that attracts many visitors each year. In Jamaica you are never too far from the beach, so it should come as no surprise that the resort town of Montego Bay has the marvellous Doctors Cave Beach, among others. It also has the Cinnamon Hill Golf course that overlooks the Caribbean Sea. In Jamaica, there’s something for everyone, sun, fun, relaxation, and a bit of adventure.
